Homage: 2003

While I talked with Charles M. Ryan during the livestream of Episode 33, I began work on a cartoon homage to the Forgotten Realms supplement Unapproachable East.
Like the rest of the D&D line in the 3E era, the trade dress for FR products was intended to evoke the feeling of an “in world” tome … looking like a leather cover sewn together by a strand of leather. This left a relatively smaller space for cover art than in previous editions … but they still managed to fit a lot of action into the space allotted.
In this case, Matt Wilson give us a scene of a ghastly undead creature being assaulted by eight warriors (plus trio of spellcaster and seven more warriors on the back cover). I picked my favorites of the attackers for my greatly condensed homage … but I could easily have chosen others, or brought in the spellcasters instead. Check out the whole image if you get the chance … it’s a real corker!
