Homage: 2016
The finished homage to the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide is available now exclusively for subscribers.
Here’s another exclusive preview for subscribers to this newsletter—the recently finished cartoon homage to 2016’s Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide. Stan! started work on this during his conversation with Mike Mearls in Episode 47 (which has been getting a lot of buzz recently in the reaction threads over at ENWorld).
The cover is a classic image of an adventuring party squared off and ready for action, painted by the inimitable Tyler Jacobson. It’s the kind of image that rewards repeated viewing. Each member of the team has a very particular look and attitude, and the closer you look the more certain you feel that there’s a fascinating backstory to be learned about them. What at first appears to be just a beautiful twilight cloudscape hides, upon closer inspection, a mountaintop fortress. And lurking at the bottom of the scene, wreathed in shadows and just off the edge of the page, are an unknown number of goblins, ready to charge.
