The cartoon homage from Episode 13 was to Jeff Easley’s cover painting for Unearthed Arcana. We’ll never know exactly what it was that the old wizard saw inside that ancient tome … but the possibilities haunt our dreams for the rest of our lives. “It was only when I was halfway done with my interpretation that I realized how much the briefcase in Pulp Fiction owes to this image,” said Stan! “I wonder if Quentin Tarantino ever owned a copy of Unearthed Arcana?”
