I said a lot about this image—the cover for A Darkness Gathering—in an earlier post … the short version being that it’s one of my all-time favorite D&D covers, and I hope that by choosing it for my 1998 cartoon homage I helped even a little bit to broaden awareness of and appreciation for this painting by Matt Wilson (not to mention the adventure, written by Bruce Cordell).
