This Week: New Year Plans
Stan! discusses what's ahead for the show in 2026
Greetings, friends, and welcome to 2026! Hope you had a terrific holiday season and that you’re looking ahead to bold adventures in the new year … I know I am!
Last year was an interesting one for 50 Years in the Dungeon. We wrapped up the show’s initial goal—honoring the fiftieth anniversary of D&D with fifty (actually fifty-two) cartoon homages to classic D&D art (one piece from each year of the game’s publication) alongside interviews with some of the people who worked on the game over its history. Then we dived straight into what I’ve been calling “Season 2” of the show, broadening the scope to cover not just D&D but TTRPGs of all sorts.
The pace dropped slightly as I mixed in the interview shows with work-in-progress episodes where people got a deeper look into my cartooning process. Now as we start the new calendar year, and close in on the end of the show’s second year, I thought I’d start off with an episode where I talk about where things stand and what my vision is going forward. As always, I’ll take any questions posed in the live chat room or in comments on this message. So let me know if there’s anything you want to know OR if you have any suggestions for how to make the show better. Now is the time to have the most impact on what 50YitD will look like throughout 2026.
Episode 72 will stream live on Wednesday, Jan. 7th at 6pm Pacific, and as with all episodes, it will remain available for viewing on demand as a playlist on my YouTube channel. (I guess now is a great time to ask you to please click the Subscribe button on YT, if you haven’t already … and please share the links among your friends and fellow gamers.)
