This Week: WiP Wednesday—Dragon Magazine 137 (Coloring)
Last week on the show I picked up work on my cartoon homage to the late, great Keith Parkinson’s cover painting from Dragon Magazine issue 137. I completed the line drawing portion, which I converted into the coloring page that got shared in yesterday’s post, and this week I’m going to continue on to the coloring process—the last, and most time intensive, part of creating these drawings.
Of course, with the bleak, snowy landscape in this drawing, I’m not sure if the coloring will be easier (because of the lack of details) or more challenging (trying to get that feeling of desolation into such a bare bones image). There’s only one way to find out, and that’s to dive in and do the job!
While I work, I’ll be telling stories and answering questions. We’ll be streaming live at 6pm Pacific on Wednesday, April 29 … so join us in the live chat room if you can. But if not, remember that you can always find the replay over on my YouTube channel.
If you’re enjoying the show, please consider sharing it with other folks you think would like it, too. Word of mouth is the BEST way to help the show grow.
And please do consider upgrading your subscription. You’ll get access to process videos for all of the art produced on the show and discounts on all art prints and other show-related merch. Plus you’ll be helping to keep the show going and perhaps even expanding.
