This Week's Guest ... James M. Ward
Episode 6 will stream live on Wednesday 2/28 at 6pm Pacific, with special guest James M. Ward.
This week on the show our special guest will be James M. Ward—though some may know him as Drawmij. Jim played at Gary Gygax’s table in the earliest days of Dungeons & Dragons, and went on to write or collaborate on some of the most beloved products ever published for the game, including Deities & Demigods and Greyhawk Adventures. He also authored the first sci-fi RPG—Metamorphosis Alpha—and was a co-creator of Gamma World. Later, Jim served as Marketing Director and eventually Vice President of R&D for TSR, Inc. In the years since the company was sold to Wizards of the Coast, he has continued to be a major player in the hobby games industry, writing games and novels, consulting with major publishers, and co-founding indie publishing companies. He’s got a near endless supply of fascinating stories, and a unique perspective on the game and industry.
The cartoon homage this week will be based on one of the most memorable pieces of art from the original Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Player’s Handbook—”A Paladin in Hell.” It’s a drawing so impactful that it inspired a full-length adventure twenty years later!
