This Week's Guest ... Ray Vallese
Our guest this week is editor Ray Vallese, best known for his work on Planescape.
Ray Vallese is an editor who got his start in games working on the Planescape setting at TSR. Over the last few decades he's freelanced for many game companies, and in recent years he published Writing With Style, a guide to help RPG writers of all experience levels.
Join us in the live chatroom at 6pm Pacific on Wednesday, February 19th.
While Stan! chats with Ray, he’ll be working on a cartoon homage to Tyler Jacobson's cover painting for the 2024 edition of the Dungeon Master’s Guide.
If you have any questions for Ray, post them in reply to this message. Remember that if you’re a paid subscriber, your questions get bumped to the head of the queue.
If you’re enjoying the show, please help us grow our audience by sharing it and this newsletter with other folks you know who you think would also find it fun and entertaining. The BIGGEST challenge we have is growing the audience … and the BEST method to do that is word of mouth.
Got a lot of questions (of course). I certainly don't expect you to get to all of them - pick and choose as you wish. Is Ray a member of the Class of 95? Were any of the "Ray's Cube Comics & Stories" ever photographed and saved? Please demonstrate "That's the Planescape twist!" What was it like getting a new packet of Tony D. art? Was Uncaged influenced by the Marvel Official Handbook and Who's Who in DC series? Where did you find the art for the The Other Place spa ad in Uncaged? Did the new Planescape slipcase take advantage of the post-Faction War revamp that was never implemented? What would have been the ideal release schedule for products and in what form (books, slipcases, boxed sets) for you? Did that GenCon multi-table Planescape epic playtest work (that took place in the castle)? Sijil or Siggle?
